Colonel Aaron Bank is considered by some as the "father of Special
Forces". Although many historical figures played a role in the
early days of Special Forces and the period prior to the 1950s;
Col Bank is one of the more prominent.
Col Bank was one of the members of the Office of
Strategic Services (OSS) that was formed during World War II to
conduct unconventional warfare. The OSS is considered the
organization from which U.S. Army Special Forces draws its
lineage.
